Hey Martin

Many thanks for your message and i'm glad you're submitting content to desktopwallpapers.co.uk! Unfortunately, I only put my own work on wallpaperjoe.com, so carry on submitting to desktop wallpapers!

You've submitted some nice photos by the way.
All the best

Hi Joe,

The WallpaperJoe site is looking great, I've submitted several wallpapers to the DesktopWallpapers.co.uk and have enjoyed the extra traffic my site receives. Is there a way to submit user generated content to WallpaperJoe as well?

Keep up the great work :)

Hi Mike

Thanks for getting in touch, i'll be happy to provide you with more information regarding the concept map. It was built a few years ago, using Flash Actionscript 2.0. It relies upon an XML file which at the time was produced using a MYSQL database and PHP.

The hierarchy of the concept map is determined by the structure of the XML file.

If there's anything specific you want to know, get in touch.

Hello Joe,

My I am an Instructional Designer for Laureate Higher Education Group. I am searching for a way to map course topics, objectives, and goals for visual learners. A co-worker showed me this Concept Map a few weeks ago. I really love your design; it is very interactive and customizable. I would like the opportunity to speak with you more about using your model or something like it for our courses.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Dennis.

There's two stages to reading content into Flash. Firstly generate an XML file. This is done in this case by creating an XML file from a MYSQL database using PHP.

The second stage is to read in the XML file into Flash. You do this by using a flash XML parser. In this case I created my own, but you can probably download actionscript parser code off the web and modify it to your needs.

A good tutorial covering the basics of getting XML data into Flash can be found here:
http://www.kirupa.com/web/xml/XMLwithFlash3.htm

I'm not sure about getting hold of the original source code, you would probably have to get in touch with the runners of the FREMA project.

I Hope this helps

Dear Joe,

It seems that you developed this feature for FREMA web site, since it uses very similar graphs to show different concepts. I am working for ICOPER (non-commercial) research project and would like to implement a similar feature. Could you unveil a little bit how you implemented it? I am especially interested in how to read the information from XML into Flash and display the content of XML as nodes, since I did not find any hints how to do it so far. Would it be possible to get the original source code of this feature? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Best regards,

Hi Chris.
Thanks for the comment. I have seen Samarost before and maybe that's where I got the idea from... This picture took about half a day to create from thinking of the idea to completion...

This is ace, looks like part of the online game Samarost. Don't know if you've seen that or not. How long did this manipulation take you?

That's a nice theme. Doctors, for some reason, still don't think that they need to have an internet presence.
